Singing Series Part 1: Your Body & Breath for Singing
MYTH BUSTERS:
"singer’s posture” isn’t helpful.
And “taking a big breath” isn’t either!
If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to align your body & breath with optimal singing, this is for you!
Fair warning: this is a very different approach to how most people teach (and learn!) how to stand & breathe for singing.
(I’m fully expecting the wrath from fellow voice teachers! 😅)
BUT… I can guarantee that after this episode, you’ll understand why I teach this way. Follow along with the cues to experience it for yourself!
WE COVER:
- why singing is not just “from your throat”
- why standing in “singer’s posture” can be bad advice
- the shallow (& most common!) way to take a deep breath
- the difference between posture and alignment
- how to actually take a good breath… which a better verbal cue to follow
- a vocal exercise to apply your breath to your singing
- a fun assignment to practice your breath & alignment on your own
This episode is part 1 of the
